His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has indicated that, the Kwahu Afram Plains area has been labelled as Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ).
Speaking at the second edition of the Kwahu Business Forum at the Mpraeso Social Centre, the President cited the Kwahu Afram Plains as an area with agricultural potentials.
“Afram Plains is in our sight in terms of it’s agricultural potential and agro-processing. We have labelled Afram Plains as Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ)” he stated.
The Kwahu Business Forum is a forum, that brings onboard investors and businesses across the country, with the intent of showing their business ideas for potential partnership, sponsorship and promotion.
According to the President, to be able to support the agricultural transformation of the Afram Plains, there would be the need to develop road network in the are.
Based on that, the Government has considered the road network in the area under the Big Push Agenda, with the intention of constructing a bridge over the River Afram and reshaping all road networks in the area.
H.E John Mahama had earlier, during his campaign tour to area, indicated that once given the opportunity to lead the country again, he would ensure road networks in the Afram Plains area are addressed.
The current remark by the President has been warmly welcomed by the people of Afram Plains, since it would help address the numerous challenges they face due to the bad nature of their road networks.
