Boat operators in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District are currently raking in high as the ferry operating on the River Afram broke down.
The ferry, which had difficulty in landing safely on Thursday, March 28, 2024, broke down leaving travelers stranded.
The ferry is said to have been operating on one engine for the last ten years, instead of it’s original two engines. This has weaken the strength of the engine, leaving it vulnerable.
The ferry had earlier broken down in the first few days of the month March 2024, making the current incident the second in the same month.
Citizens are calling on the Volta Lake Transport, Volta River Authority, Ministry of Transport, Government and other stakeholders, to expedite steps to get the ferry running on its two engines.
