Joseph Appiah Boateng (JAB 1) is expected to represent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kwahu Afram Plains South Constituency in the 2024 general elections.
This was made known by the Jamal Konneh (Eastern Regional Secretary of the NDC) in a press release dated August 16, 2023.
According to the release, the three other aspirants were disqualified due to their inability to meet the 4 year membership requirement of the party and forgery of party ID number.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) held it’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on May 12, 2023 with John Dramani Mahama emerging as the flag bearer of the party for the 2024 general elections.
However, in a letter dated April 27, 2023, signed by Barbra Serwaa Asamoah (Deputy General Secretary – Finance and Admin) of the NDC, the parliamentary primaries of 15 constituencies including the Kwahu Afram Plains South were put on hold.
Joseph Appiah Boateng (JAB 1) is the current Member of Parliament for the Kwahu Afram Plains South Constituency, serving his second term in Parliament, after he withdrew from the Parliamentary contest in 2016, paving way for Eric Osei-Wusu to represent the constituency from 2017 to 2020.
The disqualified 3 are Paul Yaw Asirifi (did not meet the 4 year membership requirement), Maxwell Asare (did not meet the 4 year membership requirement) and Grace Adiepena (forgery of party ID number).
The Kwahu Afram Plains South Constituency has, since it’s inception, been electing representatives on the ticket of the NDC.
Rumours have it that, Maxwell Asare Ampadu, one of the disqualified aspirants, is aiming at running as an independent candidate for the forth coming general elections in the Kwahu Afram Plains South.
