Mr. Kwesi Atta, one of the drivers of the President’s convoy, is said to have died after the President’s convoy was involved in an accident.
The incident happened on Sunday, May 19, 2024 along the Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
According to the Director of Communication at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, the unfortunate incident occured whiles the convoy was on its way back from Kumasi.
The release further indicated that, several close protection and police officers from the President’s security detail have sustained varying degrees of injuries and received initial treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital.
The injured persons are currently being evacuated to the University of Ghana Medical Center for further treatment and observation.
The President, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo is said to be safe and unharmed and has been airlifted to Accra via military aircraft.
