The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kwahu Afram Plains North, Hon. Isaac Ofori Koree has called on the President, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo to come to the aid of the people of Kwahu Afram Plains North.
Speaking after the General Assembly Meeting of the District, Nana Koree indicated that, Kwahu Afram Plains North remains the food basket of the country and needs government’s intervention to put the roads in the district in good form.
“Afram Plains is also part of the country. If our foodstuffs don’t cross our borders to Kpando, Ho, Aflao, Tema and Koforidua, someone might sleep on an empty stomach. We are pleading with the government to deliver on it’s promise and fix the road for us” he stated.
The DCE was also quick to add that, since resuming office, he has pushed really hard for the road to be fixed and that, was confirmed by the Eastern Regional Minister during his visit to the District recently.
Roads within the Kwahu Afram Plains North and South Districts have been in bad shapes for a while now, leading to increase in armed robbery, loss of farm products among others.
The government, despite securing a loan facility to construct a bridge over the River Afram and also fix roads within the Districts, has diverted the fund for other purposes.
Hon. Betty Krosbi Mensah (MP – Kwahu Afram Plains North) who was at the meeting expressed her disappointment in the Government on its decision to reallocate the fund meant for constructing roads in her constituency for other purpose.
According to her, despite all efforts to get the fund used for what it was meant for, the government is insisting on diverting the fund with the reason that, the money meant for the construction of the bridge itself is not available.
