Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD has indicated that, the Kwahu Afram Plains has been forgotten, especially by Government.
Speaking to the media at Donkorkrom, after receiving relieved items meant for communities in the Kwahu Afram Plains North affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage, the Bishop indicated, it’s really sad to note the Kwahu Afram Plains has been totally forgotten.
“I don’t think the government really think we exist. Any good thing that is coming, the government takes it away from here” he stated.
A group of Religious Men and Women of the Catholic Church – Ghana, The Major Superiors Conference, had earlier presented relieve items to the Bishop to be distributed to communities within the Kwahu Afram Plains North that were affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
The items donated includes 80 bags of rice, 30 boxes of canned tomatoes, 10 bags of sugar, 30 boxes of cooking oil, 22 boxes of key soap and 5 boxes of Pepsodent tooth paste.
According to the Major Superior Conference, they realized the Kwahu Afram Plains was affected by the dam spillage but had received little support from both the government and the general public hence decided to support with the little they could.
Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD further lamented about the deplorable state of roads within the Kwahu Afram Plains.
“Look at our roads. Look at how we suffer going through Kpando or going through Nkawkaw. We have to suffer a lot” he added.
The presentation was done on behalf of the Major Superiors Conference by Sr. Theodora Adzayawo SMMC, Executive Secretary of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana (CMSR-Gh) and Sr. Gifty Abane SHCJ, Executive Council Member of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana (CMSR-Gh) on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
