The Municipal Chief Executive of the Jasikan Municipal, Hon. Elizabeth Kessewaah Anim Adjornor has stated that, her Municipal is collaborating with Togo to curb cocoa smuggling.
Speaking after the 66th Independence Day Celebration at Okadjakrom, she indicated that she believes the initiative will go a long way to bring down the rampant smuggling of cocoa from Ghana to Togo.
“Recently, the issue of smuggling of cocoa has become the topic of discussion. It is right we collaborative with the leadership of our neighboring countries so that they could assist us in arresting and prosecuting smugglers” she said.
She further indicated that, the collaboration will also I’d to prevent individuals who enter both countries with dangerous weapons.
“Sometimes, some of these smugglers don’t only travel with cocoa, maize, gari or ginger. They sometimes hide weapons under their goods. Once we are able to team up and work together, we should be able to arrest all those involve” she added.
Hon. Elizabeth Kessewaah Anim Adjornor is the Municipal Chief Executive of the Jasikan Municipal in the Oti Region. The Municipal shares boundary with Togo to the East.
Farmers within the Municipality and it’s neighboring Districts and Municipals have been doing business with their counterparts from Togo.
Hon. Elizabeth Kessewaah as part of her effort in creating enabling environment for farmers, market women and businesses in her Municipal with those from Togo, she visited Togo during their independence day celebration to celebrate with them.
