Bebuso, previously known as Canan is a community in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District. The people of the community were believed to have migrated from Adukrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District. It is an Ewe speaking community.
Bebu, was the name of the god being worshipped by the people. History has it that, a native doctor had a vision from the gods that an umbrella rock has appeared in the forest. He lead the community to the exact location as revealed and identified the rock.
Until recent times, the umbrella rock (known as Bebu) was under the care of the Bebuso Traditional Council. The rock has a dog with four eyes as it’s totem. It was believed that, camera could not capture the rock until the place was officially handed over to the catholic church.
The rock also has a pond that never dries. It serves as a source of water for the Bebuso community and beyond. History has it that, even barren women get to give birth after drinking the water with faith.
The community is a 8.5 km drive away from Donkorkrom, the Kwahu Afram Plains North District capital
