The Biakoye-Kwamekrom local branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has today organised a Peace Walk ahead of the December polls.
The event, which took place today, Thursday, December 3rd was aimed at “Promoting Peace Ahead Of December 7th Elections”.
In attendance were Mr. C.K Nyame (District Trustee of GNAT), Hon. Peni Jones Mawuli (Assembly Member), Mr. Julius Ramson Tawiah (GNAT Vice Chairman) among other prominent individuals.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Julius Ramson Tawiah (Local Vice Chairman) made it known that, their main aim was to preach peace.
“We are taking a Peace Walk towards the December general elections. All we wish is a peaceful elections and we should all go out and vote in peace, come home and relax. If there is no peace, we all can’t be in the country” he stated.
Individuals who attended the walk, held cards with inscriptions such as “Vote Peace, Ghana First”, “We Cannot Afford To Lose Our Peaceful Home, #OneGhana, #OnePeople” and “Without Peace, Children Cannot Go To School” among others.
The Peace Walk, which lasted for more than 3 hours was held in peace and harmony with the teachers which form majority, preaching messages of peace to the indigenes of the Kwamekrom community.
As a way of support, the Biakoye District GNAT donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Kwamekrom Local GNAT.
Several institutions, organisations and individuals have put in massive effort to preach peace before, during and after the general election and GNAT (Kwamekrom Local) is the latest to join.
