A BRIEF ADDRESS BY HON. LAWRENCE KWAMI AZIALE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 64TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY TO THE PEOPLE OF BUEM AND THE OTI REGION
Today marks yet another unique day in the History and life of every Ghanaian. A day that signifies the growth of our Independence we are all enjoying as Ghanaians which was led by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Today is also very unique because we always use to gather to march to signify our Independence but that is not happening due to the new norm of life brought on us by Covid19 that the global world must adjust to.
To commence with, I’ll like to thank Bueman for renewing the mandate of His Excellency The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and His able Vice Dr. Alhaji Mahammudu Bawumia by entrusting the country into their hands for the next four years. It’s a reaffirmation of the fact that, the last four years was successful and that alone gives us hope of another better four years ahead.
I also want to thank the Chiefs, Elders, Youth Groups, Opinion leaders, Volunteers and all and sundry for their tremendous support to the Nana Addo led government which gave me the opportunity to lead the District as a Chief Executive. I am very thankful to all for your support in one way or the other. It is worth noting that you’ve all been very instrumental in making Buem a better home for us all.
I also want to use this day to remind all Buemans to rise up to the occasion for us to build a better Buem. I am strongly appealing to all especially kingmakers as a matter of urgency to find a lasting solution to the issues surrounding the Paramountcy of Buem to restore peace and dignity to our motherland Buem, so that we can assume our rightful place in Oti Region and Ghana at large.
I must dare to state that this Chieftancy challenge is making us loss our shine as a people and that, it is also causing us a lot as a District among our peers in the Oti region.
I also on this day, want to reassure the entire citizenry of Buem, both home and abroad of my continuous commitment to see Buem at the top. I will do my best to make sure all we have started in the last four years sees the light of day. I am also appealing to all to put our hands on deck so together, we can build a better Buem.
I believe that this will be a wake up call for all of us to join hands with the District Assembly and all stakeholders to work for the development of the District.
Let me Congratulate my good friend and brother Hon. Joshua Makubu Gmayenaam for the opportunity given to him by the President to lead the Region. It is my hope and prayer and conviction that he will be passed by the appointment committee of Parliament to enable him assume the leadership of our new region in the shortest possible time. The Party Leadership in the Region cannot be forgotten. I congratulate them also for having one of our own chosen to lead, and it is a sign that hardwork pays. I urge us to continue in that good spirit of hardwork and togetherness which is the only sure way by which our Region can reach the top.
May I also use the occasion to salute our school children who would have been gearing up for the match passes by now but for the Covid19 pandemic. I also salute all workers in our educational system in the district and our new regional director of education for your devotion to duty.
In conclusion, I want to urge all and sundry to make themselves available to be vaccinated following the example of the President and his Vice and other leaders and government officials. Be reminded that Covid-19 is real and it is still with us. Let’s continue to observe the protocols as directed by His Excellency the President from time to time. Let’s abide by every rule in other to fight the virus and stop its spread.
I wish you all a Happy 64th Anniversary and a very successful 2021.
Shalom 🙌🏿
